Things to do on a NYC Subway Train

Published by wiqqy under United states Edit This

Ok I wrote this while I had absolutely nothing to do coming back from school :

guys, you might think i’m nuts but this how it is when your in a city like the one i’m in.

  1. Observe the diversity of the people in your city
  2. Examine the crappy newspaper someone left behind
  3. Read the stupid ads on the sides of the doors and ( even rooftops , you know the discovery channel ones)
  4. Look at the blank faces of people
  5. Listen to the faint ipod sound of the person next to you ( or buy one so you can skip this)
  6. Observe the actions of people when the trains goes from express to local
  7. learn spanish or chinese, cause they talk so loud
  8. look at the shoes people are  wearing
  9. Look for a better seat!
  10. Write an article for my blog!

Well thats it for now, if you have other suggestions, feel free to add em to this list ( this crappy list…)

The Not So Secret Life of The American Teenager

Published by wiqqy under United states Edit This

Theres a new show that will start airing on tuesday 9 PM/8 Central on the ABC Family Channel. Its about a girl who is shown as a geek but then later finds herself on the road to paternity. In the commercials we see how shes acting all surprised and another scene where shes hugging her mother as if the world has showered her with the most horendous accident ( that shes committed to beging with).

I am very critical of these preganncies. Not only is it unethical for young teens to engage in premartial sex, its also a potentially lethal epidmemic( STD’s) that is already on its way to beating cancer as the universal killer. It very common for girls to become pregnant now compared to the 70’s or even the 80’s for that matter. There was a recent preggo pact of teenage girls. One conceived from a homless man. The other said ” Sweet” when the supposedly ” good news” was announced.

The way I see it, its a pathway for future troublemakers because a majority of these teens cannot raise these kids in the manner that an older, married person ( in or out)  is capable of.

There is no secret in the fact that many of ours teens are getting out of control.

A Happy Family Torn Apart, Living with Pets

Published by wiqqy under International Edit This

I love my parrot. And my cat. They hate each other like Bin Laden and Mr.Bush, but lets not go there yet. I recently came across an interesting story in India. A guy adopted a bear cub after he found did while gathering some wood.

The bear was a girl and he named her Rani, or Queen. It had been living with them for a year when the police arrested him for keeping an exotic animal. The animal was taken to a zoo where it refused to eat ( omg! ) .  The animal activists are trying hard to bring the family together as it filled up a gap in the family that was caused by the death of Munda ( the guy who found the bear)  wife.

I think this is quite an amazing story. Animals( some, like bears maybe?)  are by nature deadly and wild, but they can be trained to treat humans with respect. Dogs and wild cats are pretty darn dangerous too if you mess with them in the wild. As far as exotic animals are concerned, upto 12,000 exotic animals are being kept as pets in Texas,US alone.

Pigeons smuggle drugs, not love letters

Published by wiqqy under International Edit This

Just yesterday I became an activists for pigeon safety after tennis officials killed them for the game. Today I got an email about the weirdest thing I believe I ever read about when it came to pigeons.

In a Brazilian prison, prisoners were training pigeons to smuggle drugs and cellphones to the roof of the prison. The prison guards were shocked when they examined pigeons who were stuggling to fly. The items were attached to the backs of the birds.

According to prison officials, ” We have sophisticated equipment to search people when they go in, but they avoided this by finding another way to bring in cellphones and drugs,”.

HISTORY: -

In the past, pigeons were a sign of love. Actually, it was like forbidden love in Great India. The Mughals used to trian their birds to send messages. This  was an easy way of communication. We also learn of the bird “Hub Hub” that Sauliman used to send his messages to the Bilquese 12,000 Miles away.

Was it okay to kill pigeons?

Published by wiqqy under United states Edit This

Yesterday Wimbledon hired marksmen to shoot down pigeons that were interferring with the games progress. The players were having a hard time so they thought it was time to call the hawks to get rid of them.

What happens is that these prey birds chase the birds away so they dont come back. There were a  couple of areas where the hawks failed to control the situation so the administators called marksmen to kill them.

Animal rights activists are angry at this cruel behaviour. The administrators said that bird droppings were a health hazard so they had to do it.   What the hell? what about dogs and cats with their “stuff” and hair? Should everyone start killing any animal that lives in human habitat? It clear that these guys didnt want to look bad by saying ” These birds were killed because they were ruining the game“.

I think at times like these, people can make a difference by NOT KILLING animals even though they cause resistance. No one kills animals for fun, they do it because they want an easy way out. What is the point of killing birds AND then donatiing money to these activists?

( editor note: this is not copied text, colored areas are opinions, the black is a revision of the incident)

Will you reject a harvard scholarship?

Article from our brothers at Pakistaniat

Islamabad, from where I write this, is abuzz with talk about Samad Khurram, the Pakistani student currently at Harvard University, who snubbed the U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Anne W. Patterson, by refusing to shake her hand or accept an award for Pakistani students from the Roots Academy - a top-notch private school - who are studying in leading U.S. universities.

Washington should also be paying close attention to what Samad Khurram is saying. Because what he is saying is reflective of the public mood in Paksitan much more than what they are hearing from the government - either from Gen. Musharraf or from Asif Ali Zardari and Co.

First, the relevant details of the event from Daily Times:

Pakistani student Samad Khurram refused to accept an award of academic excellence from United States Ambassador Anne Patterson on Wednesday, in protest against the US bombing in Mohmand Agency last week and its support of President Pervez Musharraf, who he said was an unconstitutional president and had destroyed Pakistan’s judicial institution. Patterson, who was due to present the award during a ceremony at the National Art Gallery, said she regretted the attacks, which were “a terrible misunderstanding”. Khurram returned peacefully and did not talk to reporters. The academic excellence award was being given to him for his admission to Harvard, a world distinction in thinking skills, a regional distinction in chemistry and 7 A grades in A level.

The reason Washington should be very very concerned about this incident is not just because it is a bureaucratic snub. It is because of who Samad Khurram is, who he represents and why such an action by someone like him is such a significant indicator of just how low U.S. support in Pakistan has become.
wEiRd stUfF
Before the story is spun out of control by those in teh U.S. or the Paksitani media let us be clear on who Samad Khurram is not. He is not a religious zealot or a would-be supporter of any fanatic group. Indeed, he is quite the opposite. He is a liberal, probably secular, certainly modern, clearly democratic, apparently idealistic, and high-achievingly brilliant young man who dreams of a Pakistan molded in democratic, liberal, progressive and humanistic values. He is exactly the type of young man that the U.S. would and should be courting. They obviously are courting him, and it is obviously not working.

Samad Khurram is an active member of the Student Action Committee (SAC) which has been actively protesting with the lawyers movement for the restoration of the judiciary and removal of military rule from Pakistan. He was last in the news in Pakistan just a week ago when he along with other SAC protestors were beaten up by activists from the Islami-Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) - the student wing of the Jamaat-i-Islami - in a political scuffle on the judiciary issue in Lahore. He is a regular columnist for the Harvard University student newspaper, The Harvard Crimson, where he has also written on Pakistan politics and why the U.S. should dump Gen. Musharraf.

The point that the U.S. needs to understand is that it never had a chance to influence the fanatics and bomb-throwers, but the consistent U.S. support for dictators like Gen. Pervez Musharraf and U.S. political manipulations including on the issues of a free judiciary and a continuing lack of respect for the lives of innocent Pakistanis living in the Northern Areas - where U.S. drones have been indiscriminately killing ordinary citizens and, most recently, Pakistani soldiers - has now made the U.S. policies as untenable amongst progressive and democratic forces.

Note with care what Samad Khurram said. He did not ask for Shariah, or claim support for the Taliban, or throw out a religious manifesto. He asked for the most basic of basic values that the U.S. proclaims for itself: dignity of innocent civilian life (regularly trampled by U.S. drones in teh Northern Areas), democracy (consistently disregarded through U.S. support for a military dictatorship), and respect for law (set aside by U.S. opposition to - or at least lack of support - for the ousted judiciary).

What he is saying is what so many Pakistanis have been saying. That the U.S. will not be respected if its actions defy its own words. It will certainly not be respected if it continues to kill innocent Pakistanis through its indiscriminate drones. Maybe its time that the U.S. begins to listen to the Pakistani people rather than to a few “leaders” who have become so very adept at telling the U.S. exactly what it wants to hear.

Are your pets too noisy?

Published by wiqqy under International Edit This

I have a parrot and a cat. The cat doesnt make much noise but the greeny birdie has a noise pollution problem. Shreaks the heck out of his extremely small mouth compared to us human beings.

A similar problem has arised in a small village in europe. A couple in thier fifty’s have had chickens for over 30 years. Now the neighbours are sick of the cocooking every dawn. According to the neighbour, ” It like wakeing upto to a music player  6:30 every morning, We just had enough”. The owner of the chicken is very quick with his words. He said the neighbours complaint is completely unlawful because other animals like the crows also make noise but no one has problem with nature.

I think the neighbour needs to sleep early so he can wake early. Or just get some darn ear plugs.
